Headership

KIJAC Centre

The Master’s program offered at KIJAC is embedded within the KIJAC Centre, envisaged as an umbrella department of the institute. The Centre is the professional melting pot of KIJAC; it is where the knowledge is applied and ambitions are realized. It is the centre of coordination where all activities are processed through including practical assignments of students, media production [print/audio/video], KIJAC web-zine, strategic marketing, public relations and strategic development.

However, KIJAC Centre is primarily focused on the media production capacities. Through applicable projects, its management utilizes the presence of students and full-time professional staff to accomplish an array of media-related tasks such as:

  • television production [documentaries, information programs, interviews, news-features]
  • radio production [feature stories, radio-documentaries, interviews]
  • print and web publishing [maintenance and updating of KIJAC NewsNet, publishing of the best works by the students]
  • organizing of public debates, conferences, discussions – their recording and dissemination through media-friendly formats.


The aim of the KIJAC Centre is to enable the introduction and maintenance of highest professional standards of media production that will become cherished values for its students during their journalistic carriers. In addition, the Centre aspires to increase the commercial capacities of the KIJAC through engaging in various competitive projects and through offering of its facilities for external partnerships and collaboration.


KIJAC Research Program


Linked to the graduate teaching program, the KIJAC Research Program (KRP) focuses on the academic research in:

  • Journalism studies with focus on the media production;
  • Media studies with emphasis on audience research and media literacy;
  • Risk society studies;
  • Cultural studies with emphasis on Kosovar and regional identity and;
  • European studies.


Being situated in Kosovo, the region which is identified as being a ‘frontier society’ and is often referred as a “Laboratory of Transformation”, KRP is in an unique position to do academic research in these fields, by utilizing the capacity of its domestic and international networks of scholars, media practitioners, and students.

As such KIJAC Research Program aspires to become an international leader in the post-conflict/new wars media and journalism research and the benefactors of its future research are not only the Kosovo media but also regional and international media and wider communication research community.

At this stage KRP implements research projects run jointly by international and local experts, and in close cooperation with major research institutions worldwide.

KIJAC remains open to cooperation with other similar institutes worldwide or other organizations such as national research councils, free speech organizations, governmental and non-governmental organizations and others who share an interests in research in the area.
